I have to agree with sbrew. This is a good, solid, average show, with Jerry singing well - which is a plus (very good Peggy-O BTW). No sparks tonight.

this is review of the show, not the recording:
Honestly, yes there are some cool moments, but is this a great show? no. It's ok, but there's a lot of ... Garcia lapsing into forgetfulness and often (but not always) the x-factor is missing; they're just not sparking like they do in so many other truly great shows and some parts are just falling apart. Great moments here and there but some of us are going to feel that the 5 star ratings are a bit of a letdown.

Gotten in before the flood. Excellent recording ~ very full-throated bass sound. Every instrument is prominent. Not a bad performance, either.
Thank you, ... Bob. It took a lotta guts and patience to hang in there back in '79 when the krew was still on the lookout for tapers, although they had somewhat eased up on their brutality towards tapers by then. Few of us standing there in the audience that night ever thought we would ever get a chance to hear the fruits of your labor. It's not that fun taping shows ~ you can't really enjoy yourself and you have to worry about people near you singing or clapping ~ not to mention having one roving eye always looking around for big bad road crew sorts who liked to grab your gear.
